Lumbini Thousand Buddha Temple

The Thousand Buddha Temple under construction is located in Lumbini, Nepal, the birthplace of Shakyamuni Buddha, common birthplace of the 1,000 Buddha of our time on the ground floor.

The supreme Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, one of the most renowned meditation masters of Tibetan Buddhism in the 20th century, he told his sons Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche and Chokling Rinpoche the last wish by the year before Nirvana. “IT WOULD BE TRULY EXCELLENT IF WE COULD BUILD A LARGE TEMPLE IN LUMBINI.” Now his son Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche is leading the effort to carry out this enlightened wish.

Designed in the traditional Tibetan Buddhist style, construction of the monastery is now well underway, just 1 km from the sacred birthplace of the Lord Buddha. Thousand Buddha temple is five stories high with a total indoor construction area of 6,320 square meters, which is expected to be completed in 2020. The total budget for the portion to be completed is about $4 million.

It is a magnificent temple with many statues blessed by great masters will prove extremely beneficial by planting a seed of awakening in the mind-streams of all those who visit the temple, make offerings, circumambulate, and rejoice in its existence.
